St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds

Game context
The St. Louis Cardinals enter the series at Great American Ball Park holding a 63-61 record and third place in the NL Central, 13.5 games behind the division leader while clinging to wild-card contention after winning 10 of their last 14 contests and taking recent series against the Cubs. Cincinnati sits at 59-64 in fifth place, 17 games back, following a 4-6 stretch that includes losses to the Marlins and a split doubleheader loss to St. Louis on August 17. The Cardinals lead the season series 5-3 and benefit from stronger recent offensive output and bullpen reliability, while the Reds face multiple pitcher injuries and a lineup that has struggled to sustain rallies away from home. Upcoming factors include the remaining August schedule and any late roster adjustments before the trade deadline fallout fully settles.
