Detroit Tigers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

Game context
Both teams enter this three-game series at PNC Park with nearly identical records around .490, as the Tigers sit second in the AL Central while the Pirates occupy fourth in the NL Central and remain on the fringes of playoff contention. Detroit’s probable starter K. Montero carries a strong 3.22 ERA into Tuesday’s matchup against Pittsburgh’s B. Ashcraft, whose 3.88 ERA reflects solid but less dominant recent outings. The Tigers have shown improved offensive production in August, including multi-game home run streaks from key bats, while the Pirates have alternated wins and losses in their preceding series against Boston. Home-field factors at PNC Park and bullpen availability will influence late-inning leverage, with both clubs managing standard late-season roster and injury considerations typical of the August schedule.
