Game context

Seattle Mariners (64-72) visit the Toronto Blue Jays (67-70) on August 30 at Rogers Centre to conclude a three-game series, with both clubs chasing slim AL wild-card positioning. The Mariners enter on a three-game skid after dropping the first two contests in Toronto, while the Blue Jays have captured four of their last six and sit within striking distance of the final playoff spot. Logan Gilbert (11-7, 3.36 ERA) takes the mound for Seattle against Max Scherzer (1-7, 7.02 ERA) for Toronto, highlighting a clear edge in recent starting pitching and overall ERA. Roster health remains a factor, with Mariners infielder Brendan Donovan on the concussion list and several Blue Jays pitchers on the IL. Recent power surges from Toronto’s George Springer and Kazuma Okamoto, combined with Seattle’s road struggles (27-41), shape the late-August matchup.
