San Diego Padres vs. Tampa Bay Rays

Game context
The Rays enter the middle game of the series at Tropicana Field (leading 1-0 after a 9-4 opener) as consensus favorites near 55-57% implied probability, driven by their 80-54 record, AL East lead, and 44-23 home mark against the Padres' 72-63 mark and 31-35 road record. Nick Martinez (13-4, 2.93 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) faces Walker Buehler (8-6, 4.63 ERA, 1.35 WHIP) in a matchup favoring the Rays' staff depth despite both clubs sitting at 5-5 over their last 10 games. Tampa Bay leads MLB in team batting average (.260) with Junior Caminero extending a long hitting streak, while both lineups deal with multiple IL absences among starters and relievers. Playoff positioning adds context—the Rays hold the AL's top seed, and the Padres cling to NL Wild Card ground.
