Game context

The Chicago White Sox, sitting atop the AL Central at 71-63 after a three-game winning streak, face the Minnesota Twins (64-71) in a divisional matchup at Target Field. Chicago’s recent offensive surge, including Colson Montgomery’s three-run homer and Andrew Benintendi’s multi-RBI efforts in a 7-4 series-opening win, contrasts with Minnesota’s 3-game skid and 8-14 mark since the trade deadline. Probable starters Erick Fedde (6-8, 4.18 ERA) and Bailey Ober (7-4, 4.49 ERA) set up a close pitching duel, though the Twins’ injury list—featuring Byron Buxton (back) and multiple long-term absences—adds roster uncertainty. White Sox road form and division lead shape the matchup, while Minnesota’s home record offers a counterbalance in a series already led 5-3 by Chicago.
