Miami Marlins vs. Philadelphia Phillies

Game context
The Philadelphia Phillies host the Miami Marlins for a series at Citizens Bank Park beginning August 17, 2026, with the Phillies holding a narrow edge in the NL East standings at 67-58 compared to Miami’s 64-61. Philadelphia enters on solid recent form after a strong road series against Minnesota, while the Marlins continue to navigate multiple injuries, including pitcher Max Meyer (neck) and reliever Anthony Bender (shin) on the IL alongside Kyle Stowers’ hamstring strain. Starting pitching favors the Phillies, with Cristopher Sánchez’s strong career numbers against Miami lining up opposite a Marlins rotation dealing with absences. Home/away splits and roster depth position the Phillies as the consensus favorite in trader pricing, though Miami’s competitive recent record keeps the series within reach if bullpens and late offense swing key games.
