Los Angeles Angels vs. Miami Marlins

Game context
The Miami Marlins host the Los Angeles Angels on August 9 for the rubber match of a three-game series at loanDepot park, with the Marlins (59-59, third in the NL East) holding a clear edge over the Angels (45-72, fifth in the AL West). Miami’s deeper lineup and stronger recent home performance contrast with Los Angeles’ 3-7 mark in its last 10 games and 19-38 road record. Multiple Angels pitchers and position players remain on the injured list, thinning the rotation and bench, while the Marlins benefit from favorable matchups against a struggling offense. Starting pitching tilts toward Miami, with the Angels’ Grayson Rodriguez posting a 7.24 ERA; the series’ split and short turnaround add situational weight for both bullpens in the afternoon contest.
