Athletics vs. Boston Red Sox

Game context
The Boston Red Sox enter this series with a strong 64-52 record and AL East positioning, riding recent momentum despite a loss in the most recent matchup. Boston's offense posted a 13-1 win on August 7 before the Athletics responded with an 8-3 victory the following day, highlighting pitching variability including a career-high 14 strikeouts from one Red Sox starter. The Athletics sit at 45-71, last in the AL West, with limited recent success against contenders. Key Red Sox roster notes include catcher Adley Rutschman remaining sidelined and outfielder Wilyer Abreu listed as probable. Home-field factors at Fenway and Boston's overall talent edge shape implied probabilities, though the Athletics' latest result and any rotation or bullpen adjustments could influence short-term outcomes.
