Game context

The Miami Marlins enter the three-game home series against the Los Angeles Angels with a 58-57 record and 6-4 mark over their last 10 contests, while the Angels sit at 44-71 and have gone 3-7 in that span. Friday’s opener features Marlins right-hander Tyler Phillips against Angels starter George Klassen at loanDepot park, with both clubs dealing with significant injured-list absences—most notably several Marlins starters sidelined by elbow and neck issues, and key Angels contributors including Yoan Moncada (knee) and Yusei Kikuchi (shoulder). Mike Trout’s strong historical numbers against Miami (.302/.1.022 OPS) represent one of Los Angeles’s primary offensive threats in an otherwise challenging matchup. Recent team batting averages and ERA trends from the past 10 games further underscore Miami’s edge in form and depth heading into the series.
