Game context

The Chicago White Sox (73-66) visit the Houston Astros (71-69) on September 3 at Daikin Park in the final game of their four-game series, with the Astros installed as home favorites. Luis Castillo (4-10, 5.31 ERA) takes the mound for Chicago against Hunter Brown (4-3, 3.33 ERA), giving Houston a clear edge in the probable pitching matchup. Both clubs lead their divisions but sit near the AL wild-card line, with recent series results split and the Astros holding a slight season-series advantage. Multiple injuries on both rosters, including season-ending absences for Houston’s Carlos Correa and Chicago catchers Joey Bart and Kyle Teel, have thinned lineups and bullpens. The White Sox’s road record and Castillo’s elevated ERA contribute to market pricing that reflects the Astros’ home-field and starter advantages in what projects as a low-scoring contest.
