National Bank Open: Botic van de Zandschulp vs Jakub Mensik

Game context
Botic van de Zandschulp enters this Montreal National Bank Open round-of-16 clash on outdoor hard courts after a career-reviving run that includes upsets over Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, Daniil Medvedev, and Hubert Hurkacz, marking his deepest Masters 1000 progress in years. The Dutch veteran, currently ranked near No. 70, has shown improved baseline aggression and mental resilience in three-set battles. Jakub Mensik, the No. 17 seed and 20-year-old Czech with a career-high of No. 12, arrives with a first-round bye and a win over Jacob Fearnley; he brings superior recent consistency, strong hard-court results, and a 24-12 record in 2026. This marks their first meeting, with Mensik favored by ranking and experience but facing an in-form opponent who has already exceeded expectations at IGA Stadium.
