Seong-Chan Hong67Game context
Seongchan Hong and Nikoloz Basilashvili meet in US Open qualifying round one on outdoor hard courts, with no prior head-to-head. Basilashvili, ranked 132 with a career high of 16, brings far greater recent match volume and main-tour experience, holding a 19-26 record in 2026 including multiple ATP events. Hong, ranked 675 after a career high of 139, enters with just a 0-2 mark this season and minimal competitive play, raising questions about sharpness after extended time away. Traders price Basilashvili as the clear favorite based on activity levels and proven hard-court results, though Hong's prior peak ranking offers theoretical upside if he overcomes rust. The surface favors Basilashvili's established serve and return patterns in extended rallies.
