Cincinnati Open: Nuno Borges vs Thanasi Kokkinakis
Thanasi Kokkinakis76
Nuno Borges56Game context
Nuno Borges enters the Cincinnati Open first-round matchup as the clear market favorite due to his superior ATP ranking near 50, stronger recent hard-court results including a solid run at the Toronto Masters, and overall consistency. Thanasi Kokkinakis, ranked outside the top 400 and returning from extended absences, faces significant challenges from chronic right shoulder issues that prompted multiple 2026 withdrawals and a retirement at Roland Garros. Borges also holds the head-to-head edge and advantages in physical reliability on outdoor hard courts. Traders appear to price in Kokkinakis’s limited match fitness and potential for early fatigue against a steadier opponent, though any late fitness updates or serving inconsistencies could influence the outcome in this round-of-128 encounter.
