Daniel Merida Aguilar366Game context
Daniel Merida Aguilar enters this Canadian Open matchup as the clear favorite, holding a top-65 ATP ranking with a career peak near 59 and stronger recent results on hard courts compared to Liam Draxl. The 21-year-old Spaniard’s improved consistency and higher-level experience give him the edge in this head-to-head. Draxl, a 24-year-old Canadian ranked around 210 with a 2025 career high of 113, draws potential support from the home crowd and familiarity with North American hard-court conditions, though his win-loss record this season remains limited. Key factors include Merida Aguilar’s superior baseline power and recent form versus Draxl’s need to capitalize on any early breaks or serve advantages in what shapes up as a competitive but lopsided encounter.
