St. Louis Cardinals vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

Game context
Both clubs sit near .500 with the Cardinals at 49-44 in third place in the NL Central and the Diamondbacks at 47-47 in second in the NL West, keeping each squarely in the wild-card hunt. Arizona enters the three-game set at Chase Field dealing with multiple pitching injuries, including Zac Gallen and Corbin Burnes on the IL along with A.J. Puk and others, which has thinned the rotation and bullpen depth. St. Louis also carries elbow concerns with reliever Max Rajcic on the 60-day list. Recent results show the Cardinals splitting or winning series against strong opponents while the Diamondbacks posted wins over the Dodgers but inconsistent outings versus San Diego. Home-field factors at the hitter-friendly venue and remaining schedule difficulty will shape bullpen usage and lineup decisions in what projects as a tightly contested NL matchup.
