Game context
Both teams enter this NL West matchup at the bottom of the standings with sub-.420 records, reflecting ongoing struggles in run prevention and consistency. At Coors Field the thin air has amplified offense in recent games, producing high-scoring results including a 15-3 Rockies win and a 7-6 victory in the latest series contests. Colorado’s lineup has shown recent power surges from players such as Jake McCarthy, while San Francisco’s staff, including arms like Tyler Mahle, has faced elevated run totals in the altitude. Bullpen usage, rest after a quick turnaround, and starting-pitcher command will shape outcomes more than divisional positioning, as both clubs remain well out of playoff contention.
