Game context

Birmingham Phoenix Women host Trent Rockets Women in the early rounds of The Hundred Women's Competition 2026 at Edgbaston, with both sides fielding revamped squads following the winter auction. Phoenix, captained by Ellyse Perry and featuring Alice Capsey, Tammy Beaumont, Emma Lamb, and wildcard all-rounder Fatima Sana, benefit from home conditions and a balanced attack led by Lauren Filer and Linsey Smith. Trent Rockets, skippered by Ashleigh Gardner, rely on experienced England core players including Nat Sciver-Brunt alongside Beth Mooney and Sophia Dunkley for batting depth and Kim Garth for bowling options. The 100-ball format rewards aggressive top-order starts and flexible bowling changes, while early-season rust and integration of new overseas signings will shape opening performances.
