Game context

Cerundolo enters this grass-court first-round matchup at the 2026 HSBC Championships as the clear market favorite, reflecting his higher ranking, stronger recent results on the ATP Tour, and 1-0 head-to-head edge after a straight-sets win on hard courts in Miami 2023. The Argentine has shown solid form leading into the event and possesses prior grass success, including an Eastbourne title, while Kovacevic, ranked outside the top 60 and appearing as a lucky loser, faces a tougher stylistic test on the faster surface despite his big serve. No major injuries or late withdrawals have altered the field, keeping trader consensus centered on Cerundolo’s experience and ranking advantage in this ATP 500 opener.
