Rafael Jodar enters this Cincinnati Open second-round matchup as the clear favorite in trader consensus, backed by his rapid rise to a top-15 ranking and breakout hard-court results this summer that include a first Masters 1000 semifinal appearance. The 19-year-old Spaniard has shown improved serve power and tactical maturity on outdoor hard courts, where he has compiled strong recent form despite a Montreal loss to Brandon Nakashima. Denis Shapovalov, ranked around No. 43-48 with a 13-15 record in 2026, advanced past Adrian Mannarino but remains hampered by inconsistent results and prior injury setbacks that limit his high-risk game reliability. Their prior meeting this year ended in a straight-sets Shapovalov win in Dallas, yet Jodar’s current momentum and ranking advantage shape the implied probabilities around 65-70 percent for the Spaniard on this surface.
