Canadian Open: Matteo Berrettini vs Mariano Navone

Game context
Matteo Berrettini enters the ATP Montreal round of 128 against Mariano Navone with a stronger hard-court pedigree and recent head-to-head edge, having defeated the Argentine 7-5, 6-3 on clay in Cagliari earlier this year. Berrettini’s 2026 record sits near .550 with improved results on faster surfaces after managing recurring abdominal and ankle issues that limited prior seasons. Navone, a clay-court grinder, has shown solid movement and endurance but limited success on outdoor hard courts against bigger servers. The quick transition from European clay swing to Canadian hard courts favors Berrettini’s serve and baseline power, though both players carry modest recent form and must navigate a deep Masters draw. Trader consensus reflects these matchup dynamics in the implied probabilities.
