Tereza Valentova53Game context
Tereza Valentova and Alina Korneeva are set to meet for the first time on the WTA Tour in the round of 16 at the 2026 Athens Open, a new WTA 250 on outdoor hard courts. Korneeva, the 19-year-old former junior Grand Slam champion ranked around No. 37, advanced in straight sets over qualifier Aoi Ito with aggressive baseline play and clean ball-striking. Valentova, seeded seventh and ranked near No. 49, enters after inconsistent recent results but holds an opportunity to build momentum against lower-ranked opposition. The matchup features contrasting styles on a surface favoring consistent depth and court speed, with Korneeva’s recent form and junior pedigree providing a slight edge in trader consensus while Valentova’s experience offers realistic upset potential in a tightly contested draw spot.
