Ponomarenko Serhii vs. Makienko Mykhailo

Game context
Serhii Ponomarenko enters the Setka Cup matchup against Mykhailo Makienko on a sharp downturn, dropping eight of his last nine matches in the Ukrainian circuit with straight-set or decisive losses to players like Ivan Demchenko, Oleksandr Dukhovenko, and Artem Chepurnyi. Makienko has shown greater consistency in recent Setka Cup action, converting opportunities more reliably in longer rallies and set play. Ponomarenko’s 2026 results reflect declining point-winning efficiency under pressure, while Makienko benefits from stronger recent head-to-head patterns against comparable opposition. The contest’s outcome hinges on whether Ponomarenko can arrest his slide through improved serve reception and attack variation on August 25.
