Game context
Both AL Central clubs sit well below .500, with the Twins at 31-38 and the Tigers at 28-40, leaving little margin for error in a tight division race. Recent head-to-head action featured power surges, including an eight-homer Detroit win on June 9 followed by Minnesota’s 6-4 comeback victory the next night behind Byron Buxton’s three-run homer. Pitching injuries weigh heavily: Detroit’s Tarik Skubal remains sidelined with elbow issues while the Twins deal with absences for Ryan Jeffers and Mick Abel, forcing bullpen reliance and rotation adjustments. Home-field factors at Comerica Park and ongoing series momentum could shape late-inning leverage, though both lineups have shown the ability to erupt in favorable conditions.
