Game context
The Rays enter the series at Tropicana Field with a strong 41-29 record and 24-9 home mark, sitting second in the AL East, while the Royals lag at 29-45 in fifth place in the AL Central. Recent pitching edges favor Tampa Bay, with Drew Rasmussen posting a sub-3.00 ERA and high strikeout totals in his last outings against Kansas City’s Michael Wacha and others. Royals starters have faced inconsistency, compounded by Seth Lugo landing on the concussion list and Maikel Garcia dealing with a hand issue. The Rays’ recent road split against the Dodgers highlights their bullpen depth, while Kansas City’s late-inning vulnerabilities and road struggles could shape outcomes across the four-game set beginning June 22.
