Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago White Sox

Game context
The Chicago White Sox hold a four-game edge in the standings at 61-57 while leading the AL Central, hosting the Cincinnati Reds who sit at 57-61 in the NL Central. The White Sox benefit from home-field advantage at Rate Field and stronger overall positioning despite both clubs posting similar win totals in a tight Central matchup. Recent form shows the Reds snapping a three-game skid with a 5-4 extra-inning victory on August 11 behind Elly De La Cruz’s game-winning sacrifice fly, while the White Sox absorbed that late rally after earlier series momentum. Injury reports list several Reds pitchers on the IL, including Brandon Williamson and Graham Ashcraft, potentially affecting bullpen depth. Upcoming factors include pitching matchups, rest advantages, and the White Sox’s need to maintain division lead versus the Reds’ push for relevance in a competitive interleague series.
