Game context
Both clubs enter their upcoming interleague series mired near the bottom of their respective divisions, with the Red Sox at roughly 35-46 and the Angels at 34-49 through late June. Boston’s rotation has been hit hard by Garrett Crochet’s placement on the 60-day injured list with shoulder inflammation, while Los Angeles continues to manage Mike Trout’s hamstring strain and multiple other pitching absences that have strained bullpen depth. Recent results reflect ongoing inconsistency, including the Angels’ mixed outcomes against Oakland and the Red Sox’s home series against New York. Home-field advantage at Fenway, combined with each side’s offensive inconsistencies and bullpen fatigue, shapes the closely contested nature of the matchup.
