Vancouver: Keegan Rice vs Pablo Llamas Ruiz

Game context
Pablo Llamas Ruiz enters the first-round matchup at the 2026 Odlum Brown VanOpen on outdoor hard courts as the clear favorite, holding an ATP ranking near 117 against Keegan Rice’s position outside the top 900. The 23-year-old Spaniard brings greater professional experience, including recent Grand Slam qualifying appearances and consistent Challenger-level results, while the 20-year-old Canadian Rice earned a main-draw wild card on the strength of strong ITF performances, including a run to the M25 Laval final where he defeated multiple top seeds. Rice benefits from home-country support and recent momentum in North American events, but the ranking gap and step up in competition level shape trader consensus around Llamas Ruiz advancing. The hard-court surface aligns with both players’ backgrounds, with no prior head-to-head record available.
