Estoril Open: Alexander Blockx vs Luciano Darderi

Game context
Darderi enters this potential Estoril semifinal as the clear market favorite on the strength of his clay-court results, including a 21-10 mark on the surface this season and multiple ATP titles on the dirt. The Italian second seed sits at No. 21 in the rankings with a 26-16 overall record, bringing superior recent form and experience against higher-ranked opponents. Blockx, the Belgian fourth seed ranked around No. 38, has shown promise with a round-of-16 win over Jacquet but lacks any prior head-to-head history and faces a stylistic test on slow clay where Darderi’s baseline consistency and movement typically create significant edges. The draw sets up a likely quarterfinal-to-semifinal path for both, with rest, fatigue from the Portuguese swing, and any late injuries serving as the main variables that could shift implied probabilities.
