Game context
The St. Louis Cardinals hold a clear edge in this interleague matchup thanks to their surprising 40-32 record and second-place standing in the NL Central, far ahead of preseason rebuild expectations. Miami sits at 37-38 in fourth place in the NL East, with recent roster challenges including the placement of starter Eury Pérez on the injured list. The Cardinals benefit from home-field advantage at Busch Stadium and stronger overall pitching depth, while the Marlins rely on timely hitting from their young core amid a middling road performance. Recent series results and bullpen stability will likely influence short-term momentum heading into the June series.
