Game context
Both teams enter the late-June series in Detroit with sub-.500 records and significant injury challenges shaping their rotations and lineups. The Astros (roughly 36-42) hold a slight edge in the standings over the Tigers (around 32-44), but Houston continues to manage absences including Carlos Correa on the 60-day IL and other roster moves. Detroit has dealt with its own setbacks, such as Justin Verlander’s hamstring strain and multiple pitchers on the injured list, prompting rotation adjustments. Recent head-to-head results saw the Tigers take the opener before the Astros won the next two in Houston, while both clubs focus on bullpen stability and recent form heading into the rematch.
