Game context
Colombia enters the 2026 World Cup Round of 16 clash as slight favorites, reflected in trader consensus favoring them to score first at 53 percent implied probability. Their path through Group F and a 1-0 round-of-32 win over Ghana highlighted consistent attacking threat and defensive organization, while Switzerland advanced unbeaten after a 2-0 victory over Algeria but now faces a higher-caliber opponent. Historical precedent from Colombia’s 3-1 win in 1994 and current betting markets pricing the South Americans as modest favorites reinforce expectations that their forward line is more likely to break the deadlock early at BC Place. The low 8 percent chance assigned to neither side scoring underscores anticipated open play.
