Game context
The San Diego Padres (37-35) carry a modest edge into their three-game set against the Texas Rangers (35-38) at Globe Life Field, buoyed by recent power output including Jackson Merrill's ninth-inning homer. Multiple Padres arms remain on the injured list or unavailable, testing bullpen depth against Texas starters such as Nathan Eovaldi, while the Rangers' offense continues to search for consistency amid their own roster absences. Hot Arlington conditions and the visitor's road record factor into late-game strategy, with both clubs focused on divisional positioning in the NL and AL West.
