ITF Wuning: Max Purcell vs Joshua Charlton

Game context
Max Purcell enters the ITF M15 Wuning singles match as the clear favorite against lower-ranked Australian Joshua Charlton due to his significantly higher career pedigree, including a former ATP top-40 ranking and Grand Slam doubles experience. Purcell returned from an 18-month anti-doping suspension on June 11, 2026, and has posted strong early results on hard courts in China, including recent victories in the Wuning series. Charlton, ranked around 750 with a career-high near 741, competes primarily at ITF level with limited success against established pros. The hard-court surface and Purcell’s recent match volume favor the veteran’s superior serve, baseline consistency, and overall experience, though Charlton could exploit any rust in Purcell’s first post-ban outings.
