Wimbledon ATP: Grigor Dimitrov vs Matteo Berrettini

Game context
Grigor Dimitrov and Matteo Berrettini, both on comeback paths after ranking drops, met in an early-round Wimbledon 2026 clash on grass. Dimitrov, at approximately No. 146, secured an emotional first-round win over Dane Sweeny following a pectoral injury that ended his 2025 Wimbledon run, showing improved movement and all-court play from recent Challenger grass results. Berrettini, ranked around No. 51, advanced past Stan Wawrinka in a four-tiebreak marathon and carries strong historical grass credentials as the 2021 finalist, with a potent serve and forehand that suit the surface. Their limited head-to-head favors Berrettini from a 2019 hard-court win, while recent form edges to the Italian despite Dimitrov’s Wimbledon experience. Market pricing reflects Berrettini’s stylistic edge on grass balanced against Dimitrov’s veteran resilience in best-of-five sets.
