Game context

New Zealand Women, the defending champions, face Sri Lanka Women in Group 2 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on June 16. New Zealand enter with strong recent T20 form and greater depth across batting and pace bowling. Sri Lanka suffered a setback when wrist spinner Shashini Gimhani was ruled out with a lower-back injury and replaced by uncapped seamer Chethani Vimukthi, thinning their spin options ahead of the contest. Both sides are still early in their campaigns, with New Zealand having already secured a win over West Indies in the group. Weather and pitch conditions at the venue could influence the outcome in this T20 encounter.
